Why Brake Repairs and Maintenance are so Important

Regular brake maintenance is crucial for ensuring the safety and performance of your vehicle. Neglecting brake maintenance can lead to costly repairs, accidents, and even fatalities. Brake components, such as brake pads, brake calipers, and disc rotors, wear out over time and need to be inspected and replaced regularly. A well-maintained braking system can help prevent accidents, reduce stopping distances, and ensure a smooth driving experience.

Brake maintenance is also important for maintaining the overall health of your vehicle. Worn-out brake components can cause damage to other parts of the braking system, leading to major repairs. Regular brake inspections can help identify potential issues before they become major problems, saving you time and money in the long run.

In addition, regular brake maintenance can help improve your vehicle’s performance. A well-maintained braking system can improve your vehicle’s stopping power, handling, and overall driving experience. Whether you’re driving a family car or a high-performance vehicle, regular brake maintenance is essential for ensuring your safety and performance on the road.

We encourage our customers to understand the critical role of regular brake maintenance in ensuring vehicle safety and performance.

How do I know if my brakes need attention?

If you’re concerned about the way the car pulls up when you brake, if it bounces too much, doesn’t feel stable or is making a strange noise, get a mechanic to check it out for you. Sometimes the steering wheel will shake or the pedal will pulsate when applying the brakes, especially when slowing down on fast Gold Coast roads like the M1.

This is commonly caused by run out or warped disc rotors and can usually be fixed by machining or replacing the disc rotors.

There is a metal tab at the bottom of a brake pad called a wear indicator. Not all brakes have these fitted however when they do and the brakes get low enough, the squealing noise can be heard giving you some notice that brakes need replacement.

Bendix, our preferred brand of brakes

We prefer to fit higher quality better brands of brake pads like Bendix. Cheaper brands tend to form dust on wheels and are more likely to squeal. If you prefer a cheaper brand is fitted we will attempt to cater to your needs and we’re happy to provide a no obligation quote.
