Uber Certificate of Inspection – Gold Coast
Uber requires all vehicles to pass a vehicle inspection before being approved on the platform and at regular intervals after that. Here is what Uber looks for:
- All lights and electrical components in working order
- Brakes, steering and suspension in good condition
- Tyres with adequate tread depth and no visible damage
- Windscreen free from cracks or chips in the driver’s line of sight
- No cosmetic damage including scratches, scuff marks or hail damage
- No commercial branding or vehicle wraps larger than 20cm x 20cm
- 4-door car or passenger van
- Registered and CTP insured in Queensland
- Vehicle meets the minimum age requirement for the chosen Uber option
Uber also requires vehicles to have a 5-star ANCAP safety rating, unless the vehicle qualifies under Uber’s luxury vehicle exemption policy. Our team is familiar with these requirements and will let you know where your vehicle stands before we begin.
What is a Certificate of Inspection?
A Certificate of Inspection is a separate accreditation to a standard roadworthy certificate. Not every workshop in Queensland is approved to issue them. A COI is required for vehicles used as passenger transport, including Uber, DiDi, Ola and licensed taxis.
QLD Transport will notify you when your COI renewal is due. If you have recently started driving for a rideshare platform and need your first inspection, you will also need a COI before you can start accepting passengers.
DiDi Certificate of Inspection – Gold Coast
DiDi requires drivers to provide a current Certificate of Inspection as part of the vehicle approval process. The inspection requirements for DiDi are similar to Uber and follow QLD Transport’s guidelines for passenger transport vehicles. Our team is across DiDi’s requirements and will make sure your inspection covers everything it needs to.
Ola Certificate of Inspection – Gold Coast
Ola drivers also need a valid COI to operate on the platform in Queensland. The same approved inspection station requirements apply. If you have recently joined Ola or your COI is coming up for renewal, give us a text or call to book in.
Taxi Certificate of Inspection – Gold Coast

What does the COI inspection cover?
Our qualified inspectors work through a detailed checklist set by QLD Transport. This includes:
- Brakes and brake fluid
- Steering, suspension and wheel bearings
- Tyres, rims and wheel nuts
- Lights, indicators and electrical systems
- Windscreen, mirrors and windows
- Seatbelts and restraints
- Engine and driveline condition
- Exhaust and emissions
- Exterior condition – no cosmetic damage that does not meet platform requirements
- A road test
Please note that a Certificate of Inspection is not the same as a full mechanical inspection. If you need a thorough assessment of a vehicle’s condition, ask us about our pre-purchase inspection service.
What happens if my car does not pass?
If your vehicle does not meet the requirements on the day, we will let you know exactly what needs to be fixed and give you a clear, no-surprise quote for any repairs. Because we are also a full-service mechanic workshop, we can carry out most repairs on the spot or within a short turnaround. That means you do not need to take your car somewhere else and come back again.
Once the repairs are done, we will carry out the inspection again. We will not charge you for the re-inspection if the follow-up repairs were completed by us.
Regular servicing for rideshare drivers
If you are driving for Uber, DiDi or Ola, your car is working harder than most. Regular servicing keeps your vehicle in good shape between inspections and reduces the chance of any surprises at COI time.
