About Diff Bush Replacement
Diff Bushes don’t sound that important but they are considered a Roadworthy item. They assist in keeping the rear of the car in place and tight, secure the diff and help assist in maintaining safety on the road. The reason that this job can end up being quite expensive is that it is labour intensive due to the rear cradle requiring removal.
In most cases the repair on these vehicles will involve replacing:
There'll be no unexpected items on your invoice. There will be no unnecessary repairs.
You and your vehicle will be treated with respect. We'll explain things without technical jargon.
We use the best quality parts and Penrite oils whenever possible. We want you to get the most out of each service and repair.
Other items that may need changing at the same time
In most cases, there are 3 diff bushes that will be replaced.
We do occasionally find faults with the “spherical bushes” or “rose joint.” these sleeves or bushes are found on the rear toe adjuster arms and when replacing the rear differential bushes. Due to the complete rear axle bearing removed we can thoroughly inspect this section of the vehicle.
Another component that we pay close attention to the the blade arm bushes, if replacing these whilst carrying out replacement of the rear diff bushes this will generally attract minimal additional labour charges. The blade arm bushes do commonly cause strange noises from the rear suspension.
Overall they are a great vehicle but unfortunately every vehicle has their issues and this is one of them.
We can replace the diff bushes in other vehicles too, just ask for us for an estimate.
Just because the vehicle has low kilometres doesn’t make it exempt from this problem. The lowest kilometre falcon we have seen was an FG with only 41,000klms and a Ford Territory with only 62,000 klms.
Something also worth noting is that many workshops do not carry out these repairs in-house and will usually sublet the job out to another mechanic like us. Why not have it done directly at the workshop actually repairing your car!
