Jeep Servicing and Roadworthy Certificates – 2018 models and newer
Searching for a mechanic offering Jeep servicing and repairs? There’s no need to go back to the Jeep Dealer for your regular logbook servicing. We can service your car without voiding your manufacturer’s warranty. Most Jeeps take a special grade of oil such as Penrite Enviro + 5W20, which we recommend is changed every 10000-12000 km’s. Many workshops don’t have this grade oil readily available while we always keep this oil in stock. Like any make of car, Jeeps sometimes encounter specific issues and the most common Jeep work we do is Jeep servicing and ball joint replacement. We have all the right tools and equipment to replace Jeep ball joints. Other workshops often use us to carry out these types of repairs too.
Late model Jeeps, serviced end to end
Newer Jeeps are a different animal to the models of a decade ago. From 2018 onward, Jeep’s Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass and Gladiator lineups are built around layers of electronic control – advanced driver-assist systems, complex emissions and transmission management, tyre-pressure monitoring, and body modules that all talk to one another. Get any of it wrong and the vehicle throws faults, drops into limp mode, or simply won’t clear for a roadworthy.
At Ashmore RWC we service and certify these vehicles from start to finish. Whether you’re booking in for a scheduled service, chasing down a warning light, or need a Safety Certificate to sell or re-register, we handle the whole job in-house, not sending you off to a dealer to finish what we started.
New factory-grade scan tool for modern Jeeps
We’ve recently invested in a new dealer-level scan tool built to communicate with late-model Jeep systems the way the manufacturer intended. It reads every control module on the vehicle, not just the engine, so we can accurately diagnose faults, carry out the module resets and calibrations these vehicles need after repairs, and confirm everything is functioning before you drive away.
For 2018-and-above Jeeps that matters, because a lot of modern service and roadworthy work simply can’t be completed without it. Brake and steering assist recalibrations, service reminder resets, throttle and transmission relearns, and clearing stored fault codes correctly all rely on proper two-way communication with the car. Our new tool gives us that capability on site.
Jeep Capped Price Servicing
Are you familiar with Capped Price servicing? That’s where the final invoice price for your service should be exactly the same price that you were quoted. Of course there are instances where additional items are needed such as brakes, suspension, steering or other serviceable components and your mechanic won’t know this until they take a good look under the hood. One of our promises is that this will always be discussed with you first. You can always say no to additional repairs outside of what’s included in your service – as long as it isn’t something that is causing a safety concern to you and others on the road. For non-critical repairs we’ll advise a time frame or plan to get these things addressed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sometimes during your Jeep service we may uncover a repair that needs to be carried out. If this happens we’ll contact you immediately to let you know the repair needed, the cost involved and to request your approval before carrying out the repair. This way there are no nasty surprises when you come to collect your car.
Repairs that often come up include:
- Jeep ball joint replacement
We always recommend 6 month/10,000km service intervals.
Perhaps you have been told this is not necessary anymore – for certain car models the service interval (the period of time between recommended services) can now can range from 10,000 to 25,000kms and even up to 2 years.
Car engines and oil quality has improved greatly over the years and as a result, manufacturers have increased the service intervals.
Unfortunately this may offer a false sense of security to car owners. Sticking to the recommended manufacturer service intervals does not guarantee your engine will remain trouble-free.
In most car manuals, it will mention factors that impact the service intervals like personal driving habits and road conditions where the service intervals by kilometres do not apply.
That’s why we think sticking to 6-months / 10,000km is best. It helps to keep your car in good condition and maximises the opportunity to be proactive about repairs before they become an issue.
Just like humans need water, cars need oil. Without it, your car won’t be lubricated, causing deterioration inside your engine and potentially everyone’s worst nightmare – a breakdown.
Water vapour, unburnt fuel and gases from the combustion process can overload your engine oil and these combine to form sludge deposits on your engine. Engine sludge clogs the oil galleries and limits lubrication to moving parts inside the engine which can lead to costly repairs.
Your car needs to drive 15 – 20 kilometres for the engine to fully warm up and reduce the rate of contamination. This is why we change the engine oil.
When poor quality or incorrect oil is used in an engine it often doesn’t have the right additives or viscosity to begin with, which leads to premature sludge build-up on your engine. On many occasions we’ve seen a vehicle with a full service history from the manufacturer arrive with a sludgy engine. Not good!
That’s why using a quality oil (and changing it regularly) is essential.
When you visit us, take a look at our oil shelf. We usually have over 20 different variants of engine oil in stock. We use Penrite Oils.
We’re serious about putting the right oil in your car and helping your engine last the distance – not adding you to the growing number of car drivers needing an engine replacement.
